@Lamouroux: I have nothing to do with the linux-on-laptops site, so I can't help you. I will say that it took them an awfully long time to approved my submissions as well, though (several weeks, at least).

@manuel: Your symptoms seem to match mine, thanks for the link. I typically like to suspend to RAM anyway and won't be testing the fix, but it's good to have as a reference for myself and others in the future.

Hello,

The problem with hibernation seems to be the nvidia proprietary drivers. In my laptop, Hibernations works well before I installed kmod-nvidia. After I installed the proprietary driver, when I click on hibernate, the screen goes black, the system freeze and the laptop never shuts down. If I uninstall the nvidia driver, hibernation starts to work again.

The solution seems to be installing suspend2 and some other tweaks, more info on an ubuntu forum: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=79295

@Ferhat: Thanks for your comments, if 915resolution is working for you, you don't have an NVidia card. The D620 has options for Intel or NVidia video and you need to use the right driver for your hardware.

And About External Monitor...

I could not make it work with 1440x900 by default with NV drivers. My external monitor is Acer AL2216W. I added the xorg.cfg by hand but no luck. So I found out the software, "915resolution". This tool gives you the option to update BIOS resolution settings. Read more here http://www.geocities.com/stomljen/ ...

After this hack it works. BUT after I restart I have to do it again. Above page says this will be a standart in upcoming XWindow. So till than, editing init file is resonable I guess.

Hi,

I want to add something about USB. The info I will write is about BISO version A08. But I remember that this section was in BIOS for earlier versions too.

If you use your USB internal HUB with easy mode (See BIOS information for details on what is "easy mode"), FC6 might now recognize it. Switch to normal mode and restart, now you have no problem.

@mike: yip - definitely right switch - on the left of the laptop, between IR and pc card slot. When I first saw it was not working, I did a "tail -f /var/log/messages" and received the message as quoted in my original post. Nothing happens with the lights for WiFi / BT when I press ("slide") the button. I don't know anything more on how to configure / define the keys on the keyboard, so I did not try anything more. Thanx.

@Ernest: Are you sure that you're using the right switch? The errors that you're getting look related to X11 keycodes, and I'm pretty sure those aren't involved in the radio on/off switch. It's located on the side of the laptop, on the left. Try giving a more complete description of your situation including which switch/button you're using, where you're seeing the error, what happens to the bluetooth/wifi hardware lights on the laptop, and what if anything you've tried to resolve the problem.

If you find a solution, please report back so that others can benefit.

Thanks for the website - it helped a LOT! I have a D620 & almost everything works, but the BT/Wifi button does not - gives error(s):
"... kernel: atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0x91 on isa0060/serio0).
... kernel: atkdb.c: Use 'setkeycodes e011 ' to make it known."
This is new to me, so could someone please give me a clue?

@Lance: It's in the same place your kernel is. The core/updates repositories that you access via yum or yumex or smart or whatever.

Mike,
I saw your post to Dawid's page about the wireless card in the D620. Can you tell me where I obtain the kernel-devel from? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lance
